Hysteroscopy

The gold standard for diagnosing and managing heavy bleeding — see & treat.

Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a procedure used to examine the inner surface of the uterus using a thin telescope with an attached camera; the image is shown on a monitor. Hysteroscopy is the gold standard for the diagnosis and management of heavy bleeding.

At Sunrays, office hysteroscopy is done for selected patients, giving them the comfort of OPD management and getting back to work the same day.

Special treatment

  • Most patients with AUB have uterine problems like polyps, fibroids and thick endometrium. All of these can be confirmed and treated simultaneously through hysteroscopy — See & Treat.
  • In fertility patients, hysteroscopy is done prior to IUI/IVF to enhance the success rate.
  • Correction of septum in cases of recurrent pregnancy loss.
  • For patients with blocked tubes and infertility, tubal cannulation can be done, increasing their chance of natural conception.
  • TCRE (Transcervical Resection of Endometrium) for women with heavy bleeding who wish to avoid hysterectomy — with a 60–70% success rate in AUB with thickened endometrium.
  • Removal of foreign bodies like Cu-T.
  • Day-care procedure: less time in hospital and faster recovery.

Advantages

  • Day-care procedure
  • No rest required post-operatively
  • Back to work the next day
  • Requires close monitoring and follow-up visits
